Explore thoughtfully created resources and personalized services designed to help you better understand medical hair loss, cranial prosthesis care, insurance, and your options along the way.
Whether you’re here to learn at your own pace or ready for personalized support, you can begin where you are.
You’ve defined the practice you want to build. Now assess whether the foundation is ready to support it.
The Cranial Prosthesis Practice Foundations Checklist is a structured practice-infrastructure assessment designed to help aspiring and established cranial prosthesis professionals identify the business, client-care, operational, provider-data, and payer-related foundations that may be needed to support the practice model they choose to build.
This is more than a startup checklist.
Choosing your products, services, customization levels, payment pathways, or client-care model is only part of developing a sustainable cranial prosthesis practice. Those decisions may also require systems for sourcing, measurements, fit, pricing, documentation, communication, quality control, aftercare, business administration, team support, and—when applicable—insurance and DME-related operations.
The Practice Foundations Checklist helps you examine those areas one by one and identify what is:
IN PLACE • IN PROGRESS • NEEDS TO BE BUILT • NOT APPLICABLE
The goal is not to check every box.
The goal is to identify what your particular practice needs, what is already working, where gaps exist, and what should be strengthened before you add more complexity.
What You’ll Assess
This large-print professional workbook guides you through foundational areas including:
Understand What Each Piece of the Foundation Actually Does
One of the most common questions when developing a DME-oriented cranial prosthesis practice is:
“What do I actually need in place?”
This resource helps providers begin separating concepts that are often treated as though they mean the same thing.
A business registration establishes the business.
An EIN/TIN identifies the business for tax purposes.
An NPI serves as a healthcare-provider identifier when applicable.
CAQH may support credentialing with participating payers when that pathway is pursued.
Payer enrollment or contracting establishes a relationship with a specific payer.
And Medicare DMEPOS enrollment is a separate pathway with its own requirements—it is not automatically required simply because a practice provides cranial prosthesis services.
The checklist is designed to help you identify which foundations apply to the model you are actually building rather than assuming every provider needs every credential, payer relationship, or administrative system.
Out-of-Network Does Not Mean You Cannot Build an Insurance-Supported Practice
The checklist also introduces an important distinction between remaining out of network and choosing to pursue network enrollment or credentialing.
A cranial prosthesis practice may choose to remain out of network while supporting clients whose commercial plans provide applicable out-of-network benefits or other payer-specific pathways.
Coverage, reimbursement, authorization requirements, allowed amounts, cost sharing, and payment arrangements remain specific to the individual plan and are never guaranteed.
Providers who choose to pursue network participation can use the checklist to identify additional credentialing and enrollment foundations that may need to be developed.
Designed for New and Existing Practices
Starting from the beginning?
Use this resource to identify what should be considered before investing heavily in inventory, software, administrative systems, payer processes, or additional services.
Already serving clients?
Use it as a practice gap assessment.
Your practice may have grown faster than your systems.
The checklist can help you identify what is functioning well, what remains inconsistent, what requires additional education or professional support, and what no longer fits the practice you are becoming.
You do not have to start over.
You may simply need to strengthen the foundation underneath what you have already built.
My Foundation at a Glance
The workbook concludes with a guided review that helps you identify:
Your strongest foundation areas
What is currently in progress
Your highest-priority practice gaps
What requires additional education or research
Where outside professional guidance may be appropriate
What you are intentionally choosing not to build yet
The goal is to leave with priorities—not simply a completed checklist.
Before adding something new to your practice, ask: Do I have the foundation to support it well?

Cranial Prosthesis Specialist & Educator
Hi, I’m Kendra.
I’m the founder of TRUE by K. Nicole®, a Cranial Prosthesis Specialist and Educator dedicated to helping women navigate medical hair loss with greater clarity, confidence, and support.
Over the years, working with women experiencing hair loss has taught me that finding a solution is only part of the journey. Women also need clear information that helps them feel less overwhelmed, understand their options, and feel more confident about what to do next.
That belief is at the heart of everything I create.
I created this shop so that the education I share through TRUE by K. Nicole® could also be available to women who may still be learning, researching, or deciding what comes next. Whether you’re exploring an educational resource or preparing for personalized support, my goal is to help you make informed, intentional decisions about your care.
Thank you for trusting me to be a small part of your journey.
